Robocom is the SISD Robotics Competition in our district for Elementary and Middle School students. The competition is organized and designed by our High Schools in our district. We are helping students to form robotics teams to raise the number of students that will pursue a STEM degree in their future. Teachers and district personnel together with our Engineering High School students get together to organize and design the competition. This gives us the opportunity to work together elementary, middle and high schools. Elementary and middle school visit their feeder patterns for help in preparing for the robotics competitions. This current school year of 2016-2017 we will be changing our competition to one of the greatest robotics competitions in the country. We will be helping with this new competition called First Lego League “FLL”. Here is a brief definition of what it is and you are welcomed to visit FIRST and see more information about all of their competitions. Their website link is www.usfirst.org.
What is FIRST LEGO League?
It all adds up to tons of fun while they learn to apply science, technology, engineering, and math concepts (STEM), plus a big dose of imagination, to solve a problem. Along their discovery journey, they develop critical thinking and team-building skills, basic STEM applications, and even presentation skills, as they must present their solutions with a dash of creativity to judges. They also practice the Program’s signature Core Values.
The EDHS Robotics Team will be offering trainings for our feeder patterns for both elementary and middle schools. Please check as always for information at our SISD website for specific dates.
