Safety Information

Safety First

Safety is the state of being “safe” (from French sauf), the condition of being protected against physical, social, spiritual, financial, political, emotional, occupational, psychological, educational or other types or consequences of failure, damage, error, accidents, harm or any other event which could be considered non-desirable. Safety can also be defined to be the control of recognized hazards to achieve an acceptable level of risk. This can take the form of being protected from the event or from exposure to something that causes health . It can include protection of people or of possessions.

While working with equipment you must always be wearing safety goggles. You must always follow the safety rules in your work place. By being safe, you are able to work in an environment where you won’t cause any harm to the people around you or even yourself.

Never wear open toed shoes in the work area. By wearing open toed shoes, you’re simply putting yourself and even those around you in danger.

Like the picture says, safety IS everyone’s responsibility. If the working place is not safe, no work will be able to be done correctly. Being aware of hazards, following procedures and safety instructions is essential in order to have more productivity when performing tasks.

You can get an electric shock if you touch a grounded surface and hazardous electrical equipment at the same time. The shock happens when the flow of electric current (amperage) from the electrical equipment goes through your body to the ground. How serious the injury depends on what part of your body receives the current. It also depends on how long the electric current flows. Just a small amount of amperage can hurt or be fatal.

Don’t wear metal jewelry that might make contact with electric current.

Wear eye protection where required.

Wear rubber-soled shoes or boots on damp or wet surfaces.

Wear safety-approved rubber and leather gloves when you work with electricity.

In robotics you are going  to always have to be in a safety program. You will always be informed and alerted when you are messing up or doing correctly under the safety rules. By being safe you will prevent less injuries and less accidents in the work space.

When you wear loose jewelry you can get it stuck in your equipment which will cause you to choke or get a burn. By staying safe you can help save yourself from any serious injury.

Many pieces we work with is metal and sometimes the edges aren’t properly filled down. By wearing long pants can help prevent any cuts or any serious injury’s that may happen in the robotics area. before even touching the edge of a metal make sure it is filled down correctly so no one can be hurt. After cutting a piece of metal the first thing you should is file it down before anything can happen.

You must ALWAYS wear protective goggles in the workspace! if a battery pops and the acid explodes everywhere you at least have your eyes protected from any chemicals getting into your eyes. if you don’t wear goggles you are in a serious cause of eye lose or you will be permanently blind.  So you must have your protection goggles on at all times. that’s our number one rule in robotics.
